We got off to a slow start at the Main Library when planting our seeds for the Seed Lending Library.
We got a good crop of Dragon Tongue beans this year and are now letting them go to seed. (picture 1)
We started our butternut squash late and they're still babies...we shall see if they get to maturity so we can save them. (picture 2)
Lastly we planted hearty sunflowers, a cucumber and a pepper (picture 3 on right). Sunflowers are doing great and as you can see (picture 4), the sunflowers took off and we got two cucumbers!
The Fowler Branch raised beds had a much better return as we had a volunteer watering and weeding all summer.
Just a reminder...
This year we're highly encouraging all gardeners to save and return seed as this is the last year we'll be purchasing seed. Next year it will be all gardener saved seeds in our cabinet.
