See How We've Grown!
Seems like yesterday these were babies, and now mid-July we've got some full grown zucchini and tomatoes that are quickly overtaking the box!
We hope your gardens are all doing well, even in this pretty dry summer so far.
We look forward to saving seeds from these plants by letting a few stay on the vine until the end of the season, for next years seed lending library cabinet. We hope you'll do the same and see just how easy it is to save seed.
Not sure how, exactly to save seeds? There will be seed saving workshops in August on September!
Stay tuned and happy gardening!

Summer 2018 Newsletter
We hope you have all had a good summer and that your gardens are all productive. The season got off to a rather slow start but then we got the heat and humidity that grew some gigantic plants! The long periods of hot, dry weather punctuated by the occasional tropical downpour also caused our tomatoes to split. They don’t look as pretty but they taste just as good. It has also been a bumper year for cucumbers in my garden.
Our first seed saving workshop for summer 2018 is on Saturday, August 25th at 2:00 pm. As always, we will concentrate on the selfers, the self-pollinating plants which are peas, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, and sweet peppers. We are growing all of these plants (and cucumbers) in our dedicated seed garden at Fowler. The trick, which we’ve never mastered, is to have all the vegetables ready to harvest for seed at the same time! We know we will have Polish Lady Tomatoes and cucumbers, and beans but lettuce and peppers may not be ready. We’ll get to see them in September but you’ll still learn how to save seed from them.
We have some very exciting news about the Polish Lady Tomato. She has been accepted by Seed Savers Exchange as a seed that they will steward! It was a long process but it was successful. Next summer we are starting a new program called Concord Grows and the Polish Lady tomato will be the first plant we all grow together. The following summer we’ll pick another plant to champion! It will give us a new opportunity to grow, learn, and share with each other.
Happy Harvesting!
